This photo, called “Suffrage parade in New York City” features a large parade, as the title states, of women dressed all in white. They hold signs and wreaths and march in lines as the crowds(colored all black in the monochrome for a pretty cool contrast) are gathered on the sidelines. It’s unclear as to what the crowds may be doing or saying, but the people are crowded close together. I’m a big fan of the colors and the fact that the scene looks relatively calm, if tense. It can be found in the New York Public Library collection.

I like your choice of images, Lizzie. The march looks bigger than in the images that I found. I perceive this is as march, but it is labeled a parade. I wonder who named the image.

I am also noticing the wreaths and what looks like a chain of some greenery that they are holding. It reminds me of a group of people handcuffed together. I wonder why they chose to carry the greenery.

Thanks for sharing and for including the citation!
